More Like Halloween

October 27th, 2006 at 7:30 am (costume ideas, Halloween, quick and easy costumes)

We’re in Massachusetts visiting Jane at school. It is more like Halloween here than in California - the Autumn leaves are just beautiful, and in Halloween colors too! Pumpkins on the porches blending in with the colors of the leaves on the ground - beautiful. I took some pictures and will figure out how to put some of them here.

Time is getting short to do elaborate costumes. You may want to check out the quick and easy Halloween costume ideas. I went as a nerd one year. Easy costume. The hardest part was getting a good ink stain at the bottom of the shirt pocket. Just putting a felt pen stuffed into the bottom of the pocket didn’t do the job. I had to open up the pen and squeeze the ink out to get a bad enough stain to show easily.

Vampire Superman?

October 24th, 2006 at 5:20 am (costume ideas, children's costumes, Halloween)

Our 4-year old, Spencer, has decided that he wants to be a vampire superman for Halloween. He got vampire teeth at a birthday party last weekend and thinks they would be great with his superman costume. Well, it certainly is unique and it certainly is easy.

My camera broke the other day so I’m going to borrow a friend’s digital camera for Halloween. That way I’ll still be able to get Halloween costume pictures for the site. Remember, if you have costume pictures you want to share, I would love to get them!

Last night I got the Halloween candy to hand out. Costco is still very well stocked with both candy and costumes.

Jane’s Halloween Costume

October 19th, 2006 at 10:07 pm (costume ideas, Halloween)

I talked with my daughter Jane this evening and she has decided what to be for Halloween. She got excited when I suggested that she go as a “woman going as a man going as woman”. Her creative juices started to flow … “Let’s see…, I’ll need a bad wig … I wonder if there is a thrift shop around here.” She rejected the idea of going as “Mr. T going as Dolly Parton”.

Over the years her costumes have tended to be unique, or at least unusual. One year she and her brother William both went as “partially cloudy”. All of those ideas, and many more are on the Costumes Anyone Could Wear page at www.n6st.org/costumes-anyone-could-wear.htm

Thats all for tonight. More tomorrow.

Easy Halloween Costumes

October 18th, 2006 at 10:07 pm (costume ideas, Halloween)

Well, it is getting close to Halloween. you may not have time to get to a Halloween store, or order a costume or accessories on-line. So, what do you do? Look around where you are and see what is available that could be adapted to costume use. Do you have paper and tape? What could you make with that? A hat? A mask? Gloves with gauntlets? There are lots of things you can do with just paper and tape. If you also have colored pencils or pens the possibilities are almost endless. For more ideas check out the Quick and Easy Halloween Costumes page at http://www.n6st.org/quick-and-easy-halloween-costumes.htm

That may get you going out on Halloween ready to trick or treat!

October 17th, 2006 at 10:07 pm (costume ideas, Halloween)

What are you going to be for Halloween? You can comment on this post and let me know. I’m going to be a Sudoku puzzle. I’ll post pictures of the costume and how I made it.

If you have any costume ideas that aren’t on the list, I’d love to get them. I’ll add them to the list as quickly as I can. If you have Halloween pictures you would like to share, I’d love to get them also. I have plans to update the site to there will be a places for pictures of costumes next to the name of the costume.

More soon…

Halloween stores are starting to open

September 30th, 2006 at 9:26 pm (children's costumes, Halloween)

Well, the Halloween season is well underway. All the grocery stores, drug stores and department stores all have their Halloween merchandise available also the seasonal Halloween stores are starting to open.  I’m going to have my camera with me to take lots of costume pictures this year.  If you do the same thing, I would really like to see your pictures so I can put some on the site at www.n6st.org/hallow.htm, and other pages that have other costume ideas.

If you haven’t noticed, I found a source for custom-made Boots the Monkey costumes. Check the link at the bottom of www.n6st.org/boots-the-monkey.htm.

What are you going to be for Halloween? I think I’m going to be a Sudoko puzzle.
